Sunday Funday

Ahhhh, Sunday. The day before the work week starts and the hustle bustle begins anew. Today was a dreary Sunday in Charlotte, and the thought of not maximizing all of my weekend time makes me sad. A lot of times rainy weather inspires me to shop. I know some people think rainy afternoon are the perfect time to go see a movie. But many of us sit all week in desks or in our cars, so I think it’s good to spend some time on the weekend moving around, getting your blood flowing, and experiencing new things. So, today we set out on an adventure.

First we stopped by TrySports SouthPark because I was having gear change problems with my bike.

Exactly one year ago, Cody Angell taught me to ride a bike at 33. I found out Cody moved to FL to open a store but don't fear, Francisco is amazing too!

One year later and I am still loving my bike and I’m so glad we chose TrySports. This could’ve been a short-lived passion!

We biked down Colony, up to Selwyn and over to the Greenway. Shaun even made use of the Bike Fix-it machine to check his air pressure.

Quick pit stop. Good to go. Let's ride!

We biked through Freedom Park, truly one of the jewels of the Queen City. The entire time, we were so thankful for the dreary 75 degree July Sunday that was actually perfectly amazing.

We exited Freedom Park and biked all the way down East Blvd to South End. Believe it or not Charlotte residents, we’ve never been to Common Market! We decided to give it a try.

We ordered our food, one beer to split (because I cannot advocate tipsy biking) and sat on the patio to enjoy the scenery. It’s so hipster back there. Love the vibe, everything about it. There was even a couple playing music. Seriously, when is the last time you heard someone playing the flute?

The threat of rain was upon us so we decided to head out and even agreed that we would try to pick up our pace. We sped back down East Blvd in a light sprinkle. When we were almost to JJ’s Red Hots we decided that we must have a King of Pops popsicle. We met Grace who talked us through options and we both settled on the Chocolate Banana. Good choice. I love that King of Pops uses fresh, local, seasonal produce from the Farmer’s Market.

One thing I must mention is that you really need the right gear to enjoy a long ride, rain or shine. I love my Lululemon Stuff Your Bra top. When I first got it, I thought it sounded silly to put things in your workout top, but this is so perfect for bike rides. I highly recommend it for ladies of all sizes.

This Stuff Your Bra top is almost a year old but they've brought it back. Lots of great color options available now.

After we finished our pops, we headed back through the park, back up Colony toward home. I have to say that this was three hours well spent.

Almost home!

While we clearly weren’t out to set any pace records, we were proud that we rode over 15 miles on a day that initially looked perfect for doing nothing. Now it’s time to head to dance with Lem!
